The St John’s Cooperative Credit Union’s Community Outreach Programme team recently conducted a beach clean-up at the iconic Fort James. The group, made up of staff, volunteers, and members of the Credit Union, lent a hand to beautify the surroundings.
The chairperson of the group, Claudette Harris Heath, explained, “Apart from providing financial services to the community for 42 years, the SJCCU also takes its social responsibility to the community, especially the environment, seriously.”
Heath said they collected more than 12 bags of trash. She also shared that this initiative is just one of many that are being planned by the team.
Public Relations Officer of the group, Kishma Belle, said, “This is also a way for members of the Credit Union to build camaraderie with each other.”
Belle is appealing to persons who utilize the surrounding areas to be mindful of the environment and remember to “put your trash in a bin.”
